Custom Machine Quilting

JUDY'S QUILT WORKS offers different levels of hand-guided machine quilting. Each price level is based on how much quilting and detail you would like on your quilt.

Overall Quilting - $15.00 sq. yd.
Continuous edge-to-edge quilting. This includes one pattern (pantograph) or large meandering over entire quilt. Good for heavily used quilts.

Machine Quilting Services

Custom Quilting - $14.00 - $18.00 sq. yd.
Includes stippling, meandering, outline, borders, any specific designs, or a combination of two or more patterns. Price depends on time involved to do quilting.

Specialty Heirloom Quilting - $17.00 - $25.00 sq. yd.
Allows you complete freedom to customize your quilt with designs, motifs, stitch-in-the-ditch, outlining, or a combination of designs and patterns. Pricing reflects time and experience in creating a "one of a kind" quilt.
Note: All quilting is hand-guided and some variance in stitching may occur.

Machine Quilting Services

Prices... Quilting is charged by the square yard. To determine the square yards, multiply the length times the width (in inches), and divide by 1296.

Example: 81 inches wide x 96 inches long = 7776 square inches. Divide 7776 by 1296 to find the square yards. 7776 divided by 1296 = 6 sq. yds.

Binding... If binding is requested, we will make, machine apply, and hand-stitch binding to back of quilt. $.16 per inch.

Additional Labor Charges...

  • Seam backing, repairing seams, squaring up backing, and pressing. - $10.00 per hour

  • Hanging sleeve for quilt or wall hanging. - $10.00 each

  • 100% cotton thread - $2.00 per quilt

Preparation...

  • Do not baste quilt top, backing, and batting. Fabric should be square, edges straight, and no selvage edges.

  • Backing and batting should be at least 8-10 inches longer and 6 inches wider than the quilt top. Backing fabric should be seamed and pressed.

  • Top should be clean and pressed, clip all threads and points, free of all pins, and a final "check over" for any seams that need to be re-stitched. Pin head of quilt with a safety pin.

Shipping... Insure quilt to the fullest amount. Enclose quilt top, back, and batting in a large plastic bag, (including name, address, phone number), seal tightly in cardboard box and mail or UPS to:

Upon receipt of your quilt, we will mail you a confirmation letter with the estimated quilting price and expected date of completion. When your quilt is finished you will be notified including the final amount due (including postage and insurance). Your quilt will be shipped when final payment is received.
